Simple, honest skincare

Folk promotes an honest, toxic-free lifestyle that helps to strengthen our connection with nature and the nature within us all. We strive to protect the wildness in the world and in your soul, because we need them.

We are Jessica and Michael, photographers, farmers, parents and avid home cooks living in Vermont. Our varied interests have led us down a winding path that has found its nexis point here with Folk. Where food, farming and beauty overlap and fuel one another in a way that feels expansive, nourishing and connective.

It was through farming hemp (where the first iterations of Goldenoil and Plantwater originated) that we understood the importance of soil health and the implications on the end product - a healthy, nutrient dense plant vs a plant devoid of any nutritive substance. And to have truly healthy soil, we need regenerative farming with grazing animals to nourish the land and sequester carbon.

As a cook and mother, the more I learned about farming and soil, the more important it became to understand where our food comes from for the sake of our own health and the health of our planet, which led me down a path of understanding ancestral traditions. What do our bodies need to thrive? What did people do before we had boxed cereal, grocery stores and preservatives?

Our approach to skincare is really no different. As our skin is the largest organ in our body, it only makes sense to approach skin health the same way we approach our health through food. Folk is a skincare company, but with roots in the soil, in our health, in food and farming, and through all of it a reverence for nature and beauty.

We use whole plants, organic or wildcrafted ingredients and grass fed tallow and rely on slow, traditional processing methods and simple, effective formulas to help you support your skin so it's healthy and strong.

All of our products are handmade in our studio by a small group of people who all love this work and love being able to share it. We are so very grateful for your support.
